Myofunctional Spot™ is a boutique, clinician-led practice dedicated to identifying and addressing the root causes of oral and orofacial dysfunction through a comprehensive, holistic approach. Our focus is on long-term functional improvement, prevention of future dysfunction, and whole-body wellness rather than temporary or symptom-based solutions.
We intentionally limit the number of clients enrolled in therapy so we can invest fully in each individual and family we serve. Our clients are never treated as numbers. They become part of our extended care community, and we support them through every stage of the therapeutic process. We understand that choosing a provider and committing to myofunctional therapy is a significant decision, and we are committed to guiding you with education, transparency, and compassion every step of the way.
Through close collaboration with a trusted network of medical and dental professionals, we provide coordinated, multidisciplinary care designed to support optimal outcomes across oral function, airway health, feeding, swallowing, and speech.
As licensed Speech Language Pathologists (SLPs) who specialize exclusively in Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders, we recognize that our services are priced higher than those offered by non-licensed providers. This reflects the extensive education, clinical responsibility, licensure requirements, and scope of practice necessary to safely and effectively treat complex myofunctional conditions.
In myofunctional therapy, choosing the right clinician is the most important decision you will make. Unfortunately, there is widespread misinformation surrounding Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders, and many individuals offer “myofunctional services” after completing short certification courses without holding a clinical license. These providers are not licensed or qualified to evaluate, diagnose, or treat the full range of factors that must be considered in a comprehensive orofacial myofunctional treatment plan.
Licensed Speech Language Pathologists are uniquely trained to assess and address the complete clinical picture, including oral motor function, neuromuscular coordination, feeding, swallowing, speech, airway considerations, and functional rehabilitation. This level of clinical expertise is essential for safe, effective, and ethical care.
While all Speech Language Pathologists receive broad foundational training, the majority do not specialize in Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders. True expertise in this field requires advanced post-graduate training, extensive clinical experience, and a deliberate commitment to continued education specific to orofacial myology and myofunctional therapy.
Speech Language Pathologists are required to hold a minimum of a Master’s degree and maintain active licensure in every state in which they practice. This includes ongoing continuing education to ensure adherence to current evidence-based practices and professional standards. The field of speech pathology is continually evolving, and maintaining clinical excellence requires consistent engagement with emerging research and advancements in care.
Speech Language Pathologists collaborate seamlessly with other healthcare professionals, allowing for an integrated and multidisciplinary approach to patient care. This collaboration enhances the effectiveness of orofacial myofunctional therapy, particularly in complex cases involving multiple systems or providers.
Treatment recommendations are individualized and based on clinical assessment, professional judgment, and current research.
Myofunctional therapy is not a quick fix or cosmetic service. It is a structured therapeutic rehabilitation process that requires expertise, consistency, and individualized treatment planning. When appropriately indicated and delivered by a licensed specialist, myofunctional therapy can significantly improve oral function and support long-term health across the lifespan.
Choosing a licensed Speech Language Pathologist with specialized training in Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders ensures a level of clinical expertise, comprehensive care, and patient-centered focus that is unmatched. Myofunctional therapy is an investment in your health, and it is essential to invest your time, energy, and resources wisely.
All Myofunctional Spot clinicians are ASHA Certified and Licensed Speech Language Pathologists.
We are also mothers, and many of us have personally navigated the tongue tie, frenectomy, and myofunctional therapy journey with our own children. Because of this, we deeply understand the time commitment, financial investment, and emotional weight involved in pursuing specialized care.
Through both professional training and personal experience, we have seen the meaningful impact that appropriately guided myofunctional therapy can have on function and quality of life. Our goal is to provide ethical, evidence-based care while supporting families with education, transparency, and compassion, so they can make informed decisions that are right for them.
In an effort to meet the needs of our valued clients, we offer many different Packages and Payment Plans so that your main focus can be on treatment goals.

INSURANCE/PAYMENT POLICY
Myofunctional Therapy is a highly specialized area within the field of Speech Language Pathology, and many insurance companies are still unfamiliar with it. While the field is growing rapidly, insurance coverage has not yet fully adapted. At this time, there is no specific insurance billing code designated exclusively for myofunctional therapy.
However, working with a Licensed Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) who specializes in Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy may increase the likelihood of reimbursement, as SLPs are currently the only licensed providers in the United States whose professional scope of practice includes comprehensive myofunctional assessment and treatment.
Speech Language Pathologists are able to provide these services using standard, widely accepted SLP billing codes related to articulation and speech, sensory integration, oral motor function, feeding, and swallowing. These codes apply to both assessment and treatment and are routinely used across a wide range of speech and oral motor disorders. This allows SLPs to incorporate myofunctional assessment and therapy into their clinical practice while remaining compliant with insurance billing guidelines.
Non-SLP myofunctional providers may offer limited components of myofunctional care; however, they are not licensed to evaluate or treat the broader clinical concerns listed above, which frequently coexist with Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders (OMDs) and must be considered as part of a comprehensive treatment plan.
We do not accept insurance and are considered an out-of-network, fee-for-service provider. Payment is due at the time services are rendered. We offer interest-free financing through CareCredit and accept payment from FSA (Flexible Spending Accounts) and HSA (Health Savings Accounts). We also offer various prepaid, discounted therapy packages, as outlined above.
Upon request, we can provide a Superbill or invoice following an assessment or treatment session. A $50 document request fee applies to each Superbill or documentation request. Most clients request Superbills quarterly or at the conclusion of treatment.
Superbills are generated using standardized clinical documentation and billing codes and cannot be altered, modified, or customized to accommodate specific insurance requirements or requests. It is the client’s responsibility to determine whether their insurance plan offers any out-of-network reimbursement. Superbills are provided only after a client has completed enrollment and has actively initiated treatment.
If you are receiving care from other medical providers, obtaining formal diagnoses related to orofacial or pharyngeal muscle function—such as sleep apnea, temporomandibular joint disorders (TMJD), dysphagia, ankyloglossia (tongue-tie), asthma, tonsillitis, rhinitis, Bell’s palsy, or related conditions—may help support medical necessity and increase the likelihood of insurance reimbursement. Submission of diagnoses does not guarantee coverage or reimbursement.
It is the client’s responsibility to contact their insurance provider directly to determine eligibility for out-of-network reimbursement. Myofunctional Therapy is billed under medical insurance, not dental insurance.
Please note that we do not communicate directly with insurance companies on behalf of clients and are unable to complete insurance forms, prior authorization requests, or additional documentation beyond standard Superbills and invoices.
Clients receiving consultative services, including parent coaching, are not eligible for Superbills and are not eligible for insurance reimbursement. Due to licensure regulations, clients receiving services outside the states of Florida or California are considered to be receiving consultation or coaching services and are therefore not eligible for reimbursement.
