Myofunctional Spot™ Screening Clinic


Myofunctional Screenings (All Ages) - Saturday August 8th 

This 30-minute screening is designed to identify possible RED FLAG signs associated with Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders (OMDs), oral restrictions/tongue ties, airway and breathing concerns, feeding difficulties, oral motor dysfunction, speech concerns, and related functional challenges.

Screenings may include observation and discussion of some or all of the following areas based on age, symptoms, and clinical concerns:

• Oral Motor & Oral Functional Screening

• Tongue Tie / Oral Restriction Screening

• Tongue Function & Oral Posture Analysis

• Breathing Pattern Observation

• Swallowing Screening

• Feeding & Picky Eating Concerns

• Early Feeding & Early Intervention Screening

• Facial Symmetry & Orofacial Development

• Oral Habits Observation

• Articulation, Voice & Fluency Screening

• Functional Oral Muscle Movement Analysis

• Patient History Review

• Educational Guidance & Resources

…and additional areas as clinically indicated.

Please note: This is a screening only and not a comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, or treatment session. The purpose of the screening is to determine whether a full assessment may be beneficial and to help guide appropriate next steps and referrals if needed.

If further assessment is recommended, the $75 screening fee will be applied as a credit toward a comprehensive evaluation.

MYOFUNCTIONAL SCREENING AREAS

SCREENINGS

A full Myofunctional Screening with a Speech Pathologist typically looks at some or all of the following areas, as well as any additional areas of concern:


  • Airway/Sleep Screening
  • Oral Motor Screening: Assessing facial and oral muscle function
  • Oral Functional Screening: Tongue Tie/Oral Restriction Screening
  • Facial Symmetry Screening: Examining facial muscles for balance and coordination
  • Oral Motor/Sensory Screening
  • Early Intervention Screening: Proactively identifying red flag areas
  • Infant/Toddler Feeding Screening: Breast or bottle feeding screening
  • Tongue Function Screening: Analyzing tongue movements, strength, and coordination
  • Swallowing Screening: Identifying any abnormalities or difficulties in the swallowing process
  • Oral Habits Observation: Checking for habits like thumb sucking, lip licking or tongue thrusting
  • Breathing Pattern Analysis: Evaluating the pattern of breathing, especially during rest and sleep (open/closed mouth)
  • Speech/Articulation Screening: Examining the clarity of speech sounds and potential placement errors
  • Fluency/Stuttering Screening: Evaluating speech fluency
  • Voice Screening: Evaluating voice quality and resonance
  • Myofunctional Movement Analysis: Evaluating how muscles function during speech, swallowing, and rest
  • Patient History Review: Gathering information on medical history and relevant lifestyle factors
  • Educational Component: Providing information on myofunctional issues and potential interventions.


This screening aims to identify RED FLAG areas that point to possible Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders (OMDs), identify a need for further assessment and contribute to developing an appropriate treatment plan. 


Screenings take approximately 20 minutes. The cost of a Myofunctional Screening is $75 and will apply as a credit towards any future assessment or treatment.
