A frenectomy alone isn’t a complete solution. Lasting feeding improvements require active oral motor therapy to support your baby’s recovery, function, and success.
Our Frenectomy Support Program offers:
Frenectomy therapy support for infants before and after tongue or lip tie release. Licensed SLP care in South Florida. Is Your Baby Struggling with Feeding?
Does your baby show signs of:
These symptoms may indicate oral motor challenges—or in some cases, a tongue or lip tie (Tethered Oral Tissues or Oral Restriction). But not always! Sometimes, feeding issues are due to oral muscular weakness or dysfunction, not structural ties.
Even with a tongue or lip release, without therapy your baby may continue to struggle—or develop new compensations. Our licensed SLPs guide you through every step of recovery.
Whether your baby has been diagnosed with a tongue or lip tie, has already undergone a frenectomy, or simply struggles with feeding, oral motor therapy with a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) can make all the difference.
We specialize in:
Unfortunately, many families are told that a tongue tie release alone will solve their baby’s feeding issues. But that’s only one piece of the puzzle.
A successful frenectomy requires:
✅ Pre-release therapy to prepare the muscles for function
✅ Post-release therapy to retrain oral coordination
✅ Active strengthening exercises guided by an SLP
✅ Consistent follow-up to prevent reattachment
Without clinical therapy support, symptoms often persist—or worsen. Many babies end up in our office weeks, months, or even years later still struggling to feed properly because they were never given the right tools for recovery.
Passive wound care stretches provided by your release provider are important—but they are not enough.
✅ Passive stretches = Help prevent reattachment
❌ Passive stretches ≠ Improve sucking, mobility, or feeding
Active Therapy, led by a highly experienced and trained SLP, uses evidence-based oral motor exercises that tap into your baby’s natural reflexes to:
Even babies who do not need a release benefit from oral motor strengthening to improve feeding function and sometimes avoid surgery altogether.
All babies must first complete an Initial Infant Feeding Assessment before enrolling in sessions. The ideal time is before any release procedure is scheduled.
